Ruyang Dongyangguang 30 m³/h Water Reuse: Process Design and Results

WTEYA completed a 30 m³/h industrial water reuse system for Ruyang Dongyangguang Fluororesin Co., Ltd. in Guangdong Province. The project recycles production washing water containing dispersants, sulfates and diethyl malonate, achieving a total recovery rate above 65% with high-purity effluent for reuse.

Project Background and Water Quality

The fluororesin production line generates washing water with residual PVDF particles and dissolved organics. After plate-frame filter pressing, this water enters the reuse system as raw feed. The design target requires effluent conductivity below 5 μS/cm and TOC below 5 mg/L, suitable for washing post-treatment materials.

Three-Stage Process Design

The system follows a mechanical filtration, ultrafiltration and two-stage reverse osmosis configuration:

Pre-treatment: Raw water passes through a 200 μm self-cleaning filter followed by a 100 μm bag filter, removing residual PVDF particles and suspended solids to protect downstream membranes.

Ultrafiltration: The UF system achieves an effective recovery rate of 93%, with UF concentrate discharged to the plant wastewater system. A backwash and CEB chemical cleaning system extends membrane life.

Two-stage reverse osmosis: Each RO stage is protected by UV sterilization and 5 μm precision filters. The first-stage RO uses a high-pressure pump with two-pass membrane and internal circulation, reaching 75% recovery. The second-stage RO operates at 86% recovery, producing water that meets reuse standards.

System Highlights

Chemical cleaning systems are provided for both UF and RO, along with a UF CEB cleaning unit, oxidizing biocide dosing, reducing agent dosing and pH adjustment with sodium hydroxide. These automation systems ensure stable long-term operation with minimal operator intervention.

Results and Environmental Impact

The system delivers total production above 20.1 m³/h with effluent conductivity below 5 μS/cm and TOC below 5 mg/L. With overall recovery above 65%, the project significantly reduces fresh water consumption and wastewater discharge for the fluororesin plant, supporting sustainable manufacturing.
