How It Works
The double-effect evaporator is a brilliant example of thermal energy recycling. By using the steam generated in one stage to heat the next, it nearly doubles the evaporative work done per unit of primary steam, leading to substantial energy savings.
①.The feed liquid is pumped into the first effect, which is heated by external, high-pressure steam. ②. As the liquid boils, it generates vapor (secondary steam). This vapor is then piped to become the heat source for the second effect. ③.The second effect operates under a vacuum, allowing the liquid to boil at a lower temperature, enabling the lower-energy vapor from the first effect to be effective. ④. Vapor from the second effect is drawn into a condenser, cooled, and discharged as condensate, maintaining the system's vacuum.
